A few days ago (read: immediately following a big oven mess involving homemade pizza with way too much cheese on it) Jonas decided to run the self-cleaner on our oven for the first time. I'd never had an oven that was self-cleaning before, so this was cause for some minor excitement. What would happen?
Here's how it works: You remove everything from the oven (racks, etc.) and lock it. The self-clean mode takes about 4 hours and heats the oven up to a whopping 900°F!!! This has the effect of incinerating everything inside, and when it's complete all you're left with is a small amount of ash on the bottom of the oven that's easily wiped up with a paper towel.
How about that?
